Looking Forward

I seldom look back, and have never to my knowledge, contemplated on a year gone by. True, there’s still some time left in 2010, and I don’t know how that’s going to pan out, and whether I’ll live to see the New Year dawn (yea, I’m cynical too).

This year has been spectacularly lousy on the health front, both for my near and dear ones, and my own. Even now, I’m battling with a throat infection and inflamed tonsils that threaten to rip my guts out every time I cough. DH and Lil D are recovering from their respective infections. My sister has had yet another of her positively weird and inexplicable health episodes that has plagued her throughout this year. And to top it all, my dad has an angioplasty of the leg scheduled for Tuesday.

The first half of this year saw us busy battling along with my dear uncle for his life, and we finally lost that battle at the beginning of the second half. My dad too wound up at the hospital with a gall bladder infection. And those were the serious ones. Lil D had serious stomach issues throughout the year, and we made quite a few emergency trips to Manipal Hospital in the dead of the night; once, even during the second half of an IPL match (which India lost). DH has been battling the most irritiating allergies throughout the year. And yours truly has been beset by excruciating joint pains that have struck so suddenly in different parts — I believe I have had practically every part of my body X-rayed, and considerably contributed to the orthopedic purse!

The other death that I did mourn much for was the death of my muse. This year has been spectacularly barren of any worthwhile writing!

The only bright spot was the amazing Barefoot at Haverlock and this once-in-a-lifetime experience! And I must put on record Lil D’s theatre debut and art exhibition. 🙂

So there’s nothing more I can wish for than a New Year filled with good health and cheer for everyone I know, including myself!
