The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass is a classic from the word go. Deeply engrossing, complicated and layered, it kept me completely hooked. Oskar is an unforgettable character, and unexpected reminders of him keep popping up all around me. Practically every sentence had me marvelling at its weight and construction. Fascinating and a must-read, even if you don’t want to delve deep into the symbolism.
On an unrelated note – Your back ! 🙂 Yay!
Belated Happy New year!

Thanks A, and happy new year to you too!
They made a great movie from this book too, by a German director. I remember when i saw the film i thought i had to read the book, but always procrastinated. Now i want to fill this hole in my bookshelf.
Yes, I too want to buy this book for myself. It’s a keeper for sure.
